I have this great little book that I read out of every morning. The name of the book is Time for Joy. It is Daily Affirmations that have really helped me on my journey to recovery. You see each and every one of us is recovering from something. For me its a very ugly childhood. Where negativity and chaos was the norm in my family. Where poverty was a way of life. At a very young age I had already seen how drugs and alcohol can destroy a family and make people do things that should never be done. How anger can leave scares on one's heart long after the bruises are gone. How poor choices can cause homelessness and if one is not careful these choices will be repeated time and time again because you may not know that life can be different.
It is our responsibility has human beings to not be so absorbed in what is going on in our own lives but to look up and see where we may be able to help someone else. It could be something as simple has a smile, a kind word of encouragement, or empathy. And overtime the darkness of one's past fades away and they realize that life can have love, acceptance, kindness, peace and the cycle's are broken for the generations to come.
My goal in life is to inspire and enrich the lives of others so in turn they can go out into the world and do the same.
So today I can look back with love in my heart, knowing that every moment, every experience of my life has been necessary, vualuable and significant.
